Chocolate chip fudge
Chocolate chip fudge takes our favourite chocolate fudge recipe to the next level with the addition of delicious chocolate chips. It’s such a simple no boil recipe anyone can make it (even children).
Chocolate chip fudge is a really simple twist on our favourite easy no boil fudge recipe. Made with only a few ingredients, and with no need to boil it to a certain temperature or texture this simple recipe is so easy it’s perfect for kids who want to make a delicious treat in the kitchen.
Our homemade no boil chocolate fudge is a firm favourite recipe of ours. This is a really simple tweak on that to add some extra bite and texture (and even more chocolate!)
It’s a no boil fudge so you don’t need a cooking thermometer or to boil it for a certain length of time. Simply melt everything together and leave it to set. It couldn’t be easier.
How can kids help to make chocolate chip fudge?
Homemade fudge using the no-boil method is really simple, so it’s a great treat for kids to help make. Once your kids have measured out and broken up the chocolate they can melt it together with the rest of the ingredients.
Melting and mixing it all together isn’t a great job for very young children but older children who can be trusted to be safe around a hot pan can help with this job.
Can you use a microwave?
Yes. I like melting everything together gently on a double boiler but if you prefer you can use a microwave.
Simply pop everything into a microwavable bowl and heat it at 80% power in 30 second intervals. Stir it in between each microwave blast and stop when everything has melted and come together.
You can also make fudge in a slow cooker. To find out how, check out our slow cooker fudge recipe.
How long does the fudge keep?
This fudge will keep for a week or two in an airtight container, which makes it perfect for homemade gifts for friends and family.
If you want to keep the fudge for longer, you can freeze it for a few months. Simply wrap it well in cling film, and pop it in a freezer bag or airtight container.
How do you stop the chocolate chips from melting?
If you add the chocolate chips straight into the hot fudge they’re likely to melt a bit. It’s not a problem if that happens, you’ll just end up with a slightly marbled looking fudge.
If you don’t want the chocolate chips to melt too much, put them in the freezer before you start making the fudge. Leave the fudge mixture to cool for 5 minutes or so before you add the frozen chocolate chips. If you do this, the chocolate chips are less likely to melt.

Ingredients
300g milk chocolate
200g white chocolate
397g tin condensed milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
150g chocolate chips (we added a mixture of white and milk chips) plus more for decorating.
How to make chocolate chip fudge
Before you start, pop the chocolate chips in the freezer so they’re less likely to melt in the fudge.
Line an 8 inch (20cm) square baking tin with baking/parchment paper or tin foil. The easiest way to do it we find is to cut a long strip the width of the baking tin and place it in one way then do the same in the other direction. Leave a bit of an overhang to help you remove the fudge from the tin later.
Melt the fudge ingredients together
Get your kids to weigh the chocolate out, break it up and add it to a heatproof bowl. Then pour in the condensed milk.
Finally, get your kids to add the vanilla extract. If you have young children you can hold the measuring spoon while your kids pour in the vanilla or vice versa.
Put the bowl over a pan of simmering water (a double boiler).
Melt everything together, stirring all the time until it comes together in a nice smooth consistency. Be careful as the bowl will heat up a bit as the fudge ingredients melt.
Make the chocolate chip fudge
Remove the fudge from the heat leave it to cool for a minute or two. Take the chocolate chips out of the freezer and add them to the fudge. Stir them all in so they are mixed through. Try not to mix them too much as you’re more likely to end up with a marbled chocolate effect.
Pour the chocolate chip fudge into your prepared baking tin. Press it into the edges and cornes and smooth it down with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
Get your kids to sprinkle some more chocolate chips on top. If you need to, press them in gently so they stick to the fudge.
Leave the chocolate chip fudge to set
Cover your fudge in cling film/ glad wrap and leave it to set. Once it has cooled down a bit, pop it in the fridge for a few hours to set completely.
Once it has firmed up, cut it into small pieces with a sharp knife (this is a job for grown ups).
Serve and enjoy!
