Puff pastry cinnamon rolls
These puff pastry cinnamon rolls are the perfect snack if you love cinnamon rolls but can’t wait for ‘proper’ ones to be ready!
Puff pastry cinnamon rolls are a delicious, quick alternative to bread based cinnamon rolls. I love regular cinnamon rolls, but these cinnamon rolls with puff pastry are so quick and easy to make, they’re a great fuss free alternative with the same great flavour.
If you use ready made puff pastry, not only will they be ready in no time, they’re be really easy for kids to make by themselves.
I love homemade sweet rolls in all forms. We’ve made a few really delicious ones, from cinnamon rolls to Belgian buns, to raspberry swirl rolls. The one thing they all have in common, apart from being really tasty, is that they can all take quite a while to make.
These puff pastry cinnamon rolls, share the same great flavour as regular cinnamon rolls, with the same tasty cinnamon sugar filling, and iced topping. But instead of a fluffy bread roll, they make a crisp puff pastry swirl.
The best thing about that is you can have them ready in under half and hour. There’s no need to wait for them to prove or spend time kneading the dough.
These pastries are perfect shared for a snack or as a simple breakfast or party nibble.
How can kids help make these puff pastry cinnamon rolls?
Another reason I love this simple recipe is that it’s so easy for kids to make. I think older children could almost certainly do this on their own. And there are jobs that younger children and toddlers can get involved in.
If you use ready-rolled puff pastry, there’s no preparation, kids just have to brush on melted butter, sprinkle over the cinnamon sugar, roll and cut.
If you want to make this entirely from scratch, you could even try making your own puff pastry. It’s not something we normally do, but it’s easier than you think (just a little bit time consuming).
