Christmas reindeer brownies
Christmas reindeer brownies are a fun Christmas bake for kids. Why not turn this easy brownie recipe into some cute Rudolfs this Christmas.
Reindeer brownies are a great bake for kids to do at Christmas time. They are really festive and fun and best of all, really easy to make. I love baking with my kids at Christmas. We’ll always make some easy mince pies (because they’re my favourite) but it’s nice to find something kids can enjoy just as much.
These rudolf reindeer brownies would also be perfect for a Christmas party or bake sale. They’re quick to make and decorate but also taste delicious – the perfect combination of crispy topping and gooey fudgey inside.
How can kids can help make Reindeer brownies?
This simple brownie recipe mixes everything together n one bowl which I love because it’s the easiest type of bake for children (and saves the washing up!)
Kids will enjoy getting to measure all the ingredients, and mix them all together. With four eggs in it, there’s also a lot of opportunity to practice cracking eggs.
Decorating the cute Rudolf reindeer brownies is also super easy: you just need to add some little pretzels, red smarties/chocolate drops and edible eyes – jobs all easy enough for even young children and toddlers to do.
How long to reindeer brownies keep?
These brownies will keep for a few days in an air tight container.
If you want to keep the brownies for longer, you can freeze them, either whole or in idividual portions for a few months. Before you freeze them, wrap them well in cling film and and pop them in a freezer bag. Once you’ve defrosted them fully, then you can decorate them. You might need to use a little bit of melted chocolate to get the smarties and eyes to stick.

Ingredients
275g (1 1/3 cup) butter, softened
375g (1 1/3 cup) caster sugar
4 eggs
75g (½ cup) cocoa powder
100g (¾ cup) self raising powder
100g (2/3 cup) chocolate chips
To decorate
30 icing eyes
15 red smarties
30 small pretzels
How to make reindeer brownies
Preheat your oven to 180C / 160C Fan / 375F and prepare a 30×23 cm baking tin.
Get your toddler to butter your baking tin then line the base and sides with baking paper.
Measure out the brownie ingredients
Get your kids to measure out all the ingredients and add them to a large mixing bowl or freestanding mixer.
Weigh the butter and get your kids to cut it into small pieces. If it’s not soft enough, pop into the microwave for a few seconds to soften it and make it easier to mix.
Measure everything else out in turn, in a small bowl before adding it to your mixing bowl.
Get your kids to crack the eggs into a small bowl before you add them to your mixing bowl just in case any shell gets in. I normally have a spare bowl next to us so the kids can put the shell in there. If any small bits of shell do go in, the easiest way of fishing it out is with a large bit of shell.
Mix everything together
Use either a hand mixer, wooden spoons, or the k paddle of your freestanding mixer to mix everything together.
Bake the Christmas brownies
Spoon/pour the brownie mixture into the prepared baking tin. Give your kids a spatula and get them to spread the mixture gently into the corners and level the top.
Bake the brownies in the oven for 40-45 minutes. If it starts to brown too much on top, cover it with foil for the last 10-15 minutes.
The Christmas brownies are ready when they have a nice crust on top and if you stick a skewer in the middle it should come out relatively clean. If you like brownies that are still a bit gooey it’s ok for there to be a little mixture on the skewer.
Decorate the Christmas reindeer brownies
These cute Rudolfs are really easy to decorate which is why they’re the perfect Christmas brownie recipe.
Once the brownies have cooled remove them from the tin and cut into squares – around 15-20 pieces depending on how big you want each piece to be.
Take a small pretzel and push it into the corner of the brownie slice. Repeat this for the other ear.
To stick the Smartie nose and eyes on, either use a little bit of icing from an icing writer if you have them or a few squares of melted chocolate.
Serve and enjoy!
