5 minute hummus
A really simple recipe for 5 minute hummus. Kids will love making and eating this tasty dip.
Hummus is one of those things we always have in the fridge but never really make for ourselves. I like to show my kids what goes into their food so I was keen to get them to put some together.
This easy 5 minute hummus is so easy for kids to make. You simply pop everything together in a small blender and whizz it all together.
We added some paprika to ours as it makes it a lovely colour and adds a nice bit of flavour. If you prefer or your kids don’t want it in, add half a teaspoon or leave it out instead.
Serves: 8-10
Difficulty: easy
Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
200g chickpeas
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 garlic cloves
1 tsp cumin
1 tbsp tahini
2 tsbp olive oil
1 tsp paprika
4 tbsp water
How to make easy 5 minute hummus
Add everything to a blender
Get your kids to drain the chick peas and add them to your blender. (Keep a few back for decoration if you like).
Squeeze the juice from a lemon into a small bowl. Add in around 2 tbsp to your blender. To get more juice out of your lemon, pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so, before you squeeze it.
Add the garlic cloves, tahini, oil, spices and 3 tbsp of water to your blender.
Whizz everything together.
Get your kids to whizz everything together until the hummus is the right consistency. If you want it a little looser, add the final tbsp of water and give it a final mix. If you like it thicker, just add a little less water.
Pop the hummus into a serving dish and add a couple of chick peas on top for decoration.
Serve with some pita bread or fresh vegetables.
