Slow cooker pulled pork
This easy slow cooker pulled pork is so succulent as well as simple to make. It’s the perfect family meal.
Slow cooker pulled pork is one of those dishes that’s perfect for a chilly autumn day (although we love it so much that we eat it all year round!)
Everyone in our house loves it, even our fussy eating, meat hating youngest. Cooking the pork in the slow cooker makes it so deliciously tender and succulent it just falls apart. We don’t use our slow cooker often enough, but when we do, I love how easy it is. I love just being able to pop everything in, then forget about it until dinner. It really is the perfect family dinner for a busy day.
How can kids help make slow cooker pulled pork?
It’s also a simple dish for kids to help prepare. Mine like the novelty of slow cooking and getting to make dinner while they’re still in their pajamas! You can get your kids busy in the kitchen preparing the spice rub. There’s no need to be too accurate so it’s a great job for young children.

How to make slow cooker pulled pork
Prepare the BBQ spice rub
Get your kids to measure out all the spices /herbs into a small dish and mix it together. You don’t need to worry too much about being really accurate so this is a great step for kids to help with.
Rub the BBQ spice mixture into the pork shoulder, making sure to get it around all the sides.
Chop the onion
While your kids are preparing the spice rub, chop the onion into slices. If you have older children who can use a sharp knife, they could do this for you.
Cook the pulled pork
Get your kids to add the onions, then pork to your slow cooker. Pour the cider over the top.
Set your slow cooker to low and cook for around six hours.
Shred the pork
Remove the pork from your slow cooker and shred it. We have our own pulled pork shredders but if you don’t have any, simply use a couple of forks. The pork should just fall apart which means even toddlers or young children can help to do this.
Serve the pulled pork in rolls with some coleslaw.

I got so bored of pulled pork when it was everywhere. But now I haven’t had it for ages and these look wonderful. I’ll have to give it ago, I think the kids would enjoy it too.

I’m sure you kids will. It’s one of the few things my fussiest eater will eat without question.
