We had a few apples lying around that needed used so I thought I’d turn them into apple crisps. Hannah likes the packets you can buy in the kids snack aisle of the supermarket but they’re really easy to do yourself.
We added some cinnamon to the apples before we baked them which I think adds a nice flavour. But if your kids aren’t keen on cinnamon you can easily skip that step.
Preheat your oven to 90C / 190F and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Slice your apple
Cut your apple into thin slices. If your kids are a bit older they could do this themselves, or if they’re a bit too young still, get them working on the next steps while you cut the apple up.
Mix the apple in the sugar and cinnamon
Get your kids to measure the sugar and cinnamon into a bowl, and add the apple slices. Give it all a good mix to the apple is coated with the mix.
Bake the apple crisps
Place the apple slices on the prepared baking trays.
Bake in the oven for around 2 hours, turning the slices once half way through.
Remove from the oven and leave to cool.
They’ll keep for a few days in an air tight container.
