Method
- Grease or line a 9 x 9 inch (22cm x 22 cm) baking tin with baking or parchment paper.
- We like to lay a strip of baking paper the width of our tin in one direction then do the same in the other direction. If you leave a bit hanging over the edge it'll be easier to remove from the tin later.
Melt the butter and marshmallows
- Measure out the butter and pop it in a pan. Heat it over a gentle heat until it has melted.Keep the pan on the heat and add the marshmallows. Stir them in until they're melted.
Measure the rice crispies
- While the butter and marshmallows are melting measure out the Rice Krispies and add them to a large mixing bowl.
Mix everything together
- Once the marshmallows are fully melted, pour the mixture into the mixing bowl. Stir everything together until the Rice Krispies are all nicely coated in the melted marshmallows.
Leave the Rice Krispie treats to set
- Pour or spoon the marshmallow coated Rice Krispies into the prepared baking tin. Using the back of a spoon or a spatula, press it all down making sure you press it well into the corners and edges and smooth down the top.
- Leave the Rice Krispie treats to set for at least an hour. You can leave it somewhere at room temperature, but if you want them to set more quickly pop them in the fridge.
- Once they're set, remove them from the baking tin and cut it into squares.
Notes
If the Rice Krispies are sticking to the spoon when you press it into the tin, wet the spoon with a little water.
