Peach trifle

Trifle is one of the easiest desserts you can make with kids. And this peach trifle, uses a few pre-prepared ingredients to make life even easier, as you're basically just arranging things in a dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 160 g packet trifle sponges
  • 5 tbsp jam
  • 3 tbsp sherry
  • 410 g can of sliced peaches
  • 350 g custard
  • 284 ml double cream
  • Sprinkles to decorate

Method
 

Make the sponge layer
  1. Cut the sponges in half through the middle spread them with jam. Sandwich the two halves back together again and arrange them in your dish, making sure you cover the whole layer.
  2. Pour the sherry into a small dish, and using a teaspoon and get them to drizzle the sherry over the top of all the sponges.
Add the peach layer
  1. Arrange the peaches on top of the sponges again, making sure they cover the whole layer.
Add the custard
  1. To make our life easier, we just used custard from a carton, but you could make your own from scratch or from custard powder.
  2. Carefully pour the custard on top of the peaches, making sure to cover all of the peaches.
Add the cream
  1. Add the cream to a bowl or free-standing mixer, then whip it until it forms soft peaks. Get your kids to help add it to the top of your custard, then add the sprinkles on top.
