Ingredients

  • 110 g (½ cup) butter
  • 165 g (1 cup) self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 100 g (½ cup) golden caster suga
  • 125 (½ cup) ml milk
  • 2-3 420g tins of sliced peaches

Equipment

  • Digital scales
  • Mixing bowl
  • Food processor
  • Measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • Pie dish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C / 170C Fan / 350F
Make the cobbler topping
Rub the butter and flour together
    1. Measure out the butter and the flour and get them to cut the butter into small pieces.
Put the butter and flour into a large mixing bowl.
    2. Rub the butter and flour together with your finger tips until the mixture resembles rough breadcrumbs.
    Add the remaining dry ingredients
    1. Measure out the baking powder and sugar and add them to your mixing bowl. Make sure you level the teaspoon of baking powder so that you add just the right amount.
Mix the sugar and baking powder in.
    Add the milk
    1. Measure the milk either using the ml setting of your digital scales or a measuring just and slowly pour it into your mixing bowl.
Stir it all until the mixture comes together.
    Make the peach cobbler
    1. Lay the peaches in the base of a baking or pie dish. Try and make sure they cover the bottom of your dish nice an evenly.
    2. Spoon the cobbler topping on top of your peaches. Don't worry about spreading the cobbler topping evenly, it should have some gaps in between each dollop as it will spread a bit when it bakes.
    Bake the peach cobbler
    1. Bake your cobbler in your oven for 35-40 minutes. It's ready when the topping has turned nice and golden brown and is slightly crispy on top. You can check that it's cooked by inserting a skewer into the cobbler – if it comes out clean it's ready. If any wet dough sticks to your skewer, pop it back into the oven for a few more minutes.
    2. Remove your peach cobbler from the oven. Serve and enjoy.
