Method
- Preheat your oven to 160C / 140C Fan / 320F and thoroughly grease a donut pan with a little oil or butter.
MIX THE DRY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER
- Measure the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar and add them to a large mixing bowl.
MIX THE WET INGREDIENTS TOGETHER
- In a separate bowl or measuring jug, measure the milk.Melt the butter in the microwave or small pot and then add that to your milk.Crack the eggs in a small bowl before adding them to your milk. Finally, add the vanilla and then mix it all in with a fork or small whisk.
ADD THE WET INGREDIENTS TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS
- Pour the wet ingredients into your large mixing bowl. Mix it all in with a wooden spoon or spatula until you have a nice smooth batter.
BAKE THE DONUTS
- Add the batter to your donut pans until they are about ¾ full. You can either spoon the batter in, or if you use a jug you can get your kids to pour the batter in. We found using a jug much easier and much less messy.
- Bake the donuts for 8-10 minutes. They're ready when they have risen and turned a nice golden brown colour.Remove them from the oven and leave them in their tins while you make the chocolate glaze.
MAKE THE CHOCOLATE GLAZE
- Break up the chocolate and put it in a small heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water (a double boiler). Add the golden syrup and butter and mix it all together while the chocolate melts.
GLAZE THE DONUTS
- Once the chocolate has melted, remove the chocolate from the heat and take the donuts out of their donut pans.Dip each donut in the chocolate then set them down on a wire rack. Add some sprinkles as a finishing touch.
