Ingredients

  • 15 marshmallows
  • 150-200 g milk chocolate
  • 15 smarties

Equipment

  • Digital scales
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Petit four cases (mini cupcake cases)
  • Cake storage

Method

Melt the chocolate
  1. Break up the chocolate and add it to a heatproof bowl. Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bowl isn't touching the water.
Stir the chocolate with a spatula or wooden spoon until it has melted and is nice and smooth.
  2. Alternatively you can melt the chocolate in the microwave. Do it in short bursts, stirring in between each blast to make sure the chocolate doesn't burn.
Make the top hats
  1. Spoon the chocolate into each petit four case. It should be about a teaspoon for each case. If you want to make it neater you could also add the chocolate to a piping bag or a freezer bag with a small hole cut in the corner and pipe the chocolate in.
  2. Place a marshmallow on top of the chocolate in each case and press it down gently to make sure that it sticks.
Pipe a small bit of chocolate on top of each marshmallow and use that to stick a Smartie on top.
  3. Leave the chocolate to set, serve and enjoy.
