For the crumble
  • 100 g (½ cup) plain flour
  • 115 g (½ cup) butter
  • 75 g (⅓ cup) soft brown sugar
  • 50 g (⅓ cup) rolled oats

Equipment

  • Digital scales
  • Mixing bowl
  • Food processor
  • Measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • Pie dish

Method

Preheat your oven to 190C / 170C Fan / 375F and grease a large oven proof dish
    Prepare the blueberries
    1. Measure out the blueberries and pop them in a small bowl. Add the cornflour, sugar and lemon juice and stir them so they are well coated. Set the blueberries aside for now.
    Make the crumble topping
    1. Measure out the butter and flour. Cut the butter into small pieces, or if you find it easier grate it. Add the flour to a mixing bowl.
Rub the butter and flour together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles rough breadcrumbs.
    2. Alternatively, if you have a food processor you can add the butter and flour to that and pulse it until the mixture is ready.
    3. Measure the sugar and porridge oats out and add them into your mixing bowl. Stir them together with a spoon.
    Make the blueberry crumble
    1. Pour the blueberries into your oven dish. Spread them around until they are nice and evenly spread over the base of the dish.
    2. Next, pour or spoon the crumble topping on top of the blueberries. Make sure when you add the crumble topping it covers all of the fruit.
    Bake the blueberry crumble
    1. Bake the crumble for around 40 minutes. You know it's ready when the crumble topping has turned a nice golden brown colour and the blueberry mixture is bubbling through in places.
    2. Serve and enjoy.
