Preheat your oven to 190C /180C Fan / and grease and line a 20x30cm tin with baking paper
Make the crumble
- Measure the caster sugar, flour and baking powder and add to a large mixing bowl.
- Measure the butter and chop it into small pieces. Add it to your bowl then use their fingers to rub it in until it looks like breadcrumbs.
- Finally, add the egg and give everything one last stir.
Prepare the fruit
- Get your child to measure the sugar, cornflour and berries and add them to a separate bowl. Mix it all together so the fruit is well coated.
Make the berry crumble bars
- Pour half of the crumble mixture into your prepared baking tin and press it down.
- Add the berries to the top and spread over the crumble base.
- Finally, add the remaining crumble topping on top.
Bake the berry crumble bars
- Bake the bars in the oven for 45 minutes. They are ready when the top is brown and the middle no longer soggy.
- Leave them to cool in the tin for a few minutes before removing from the tin and leaving to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Cut into squares.
