My name is Helen and I’m a stay-at-home mum to two (mostly) wonderful kids, Hannah and Lewis. I love cooking. I don’t pretend to be the greatest cook in the world – I’ve had my fair share of disasters – but I like to give it a go and I’m keen for my children to grow up knowing their way around the kitchen.
When Hannah was younger I struggled to get anything done in the kitchen, until one day, I put her up on the counter next to me while I cooked dinner, and we’ve not looked back since. Now I can’t prepare a meal without her watching, mixing, tasting, or helping in any way she can.
Because she enjoys her time in the kitchen, I’ve tried to find more and more recipes that are easy for her to help with. We started with really simple tasks in the kitchen, but as my kids get older and can be trusted around sharp knives and cookers, they help with more and more. With a few boundaries in place to keep them safe we manage to create lots of yummy food together.
Through this website I want to share some recipes as well as hints and tips so more people can enjoy cooking with their little ones. I believe that children are never too young to learn about and gain an appreciation for food and cooking. And it’s a great way to spend quality time together. If you’re still not convinced find out about the benefits of cooking with children.
I hope you like what you see. If you do and want to find out more or get in touch email me at [email protected] or find me on facebook, twitter, instagram or pinterest.
